One small step for Primehr…
Every so often the management of Primehr strives to push the barriers of Diversity & Inclusion further within the organization as part of its ongoing programme of Corporate Social Responsibility.
We are happy to announce that Primehr has taken a positive step forward in fulfilling its’ obligation to make a positive change to the society that we live in, to the lives of those that can’t always speak out and want to be heard and to the way we all think.
A few weeks ago Primehr was approached by NOWPDP, an organization that is working hard towards raising awareness, striving for the rights of, and making a significant difference to the quality of life and welfare of people with disabilities in Pakistan. They requested us to assist them to find employment within our own organization from a pool of candidates that they thought were more than capable of fitting into the working environment.
And so the tear-jerking, heart-wrenching and humbling experience of interviewing these candidates began. With the trials, also came the tribulations, a ray of light and feeling of hope that, yes some of these candidates could easily fit into most working environment whether it is as a Document Scanner, Data Entry Operator, Front Desk Operator or as a Call Centre Agent. There was one hard of hearing candidate who was so adept with the keyboard that he was not even looking at the keyboard whilst typing and in no time he had completed the typing test successfully.
By end of the 2 week experience, we had shortlisted 15 candidates who are more than capable of performing some level of office work. We are already working on accommodating a few of the candidates into our organization.
Primehr would like to request that you support us in our endeavors by assimilating at least one of these candidates in your organization. She/he will need your support, cooperation and guidance initially but we assure you that the candidate will end up proving to be an asset to your company.
We need to be more aware that Diversity and Inclusion is not just about the number of working women in the working environment, about fulfilling the quota in the work place with those from a minority background. It is also about identifying, recognizing and including people in our community that have always been “below the media radar” or are ignored because of their physical or sensorial challenges. These people live their lives, constantly looking for light at the end of the tunnel, a glimmer of hope, a sense of self-worth and an avenue that will help to lead better lives for themselves and their families. They are not asking for the world. They are looking for support and a helping hand from “us”, from those who can give them just that.
If you are interested, and would like to learn more and possibly meet a few of these candidates, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Let us join hands to make our corporate environment more, friendly for the differently-abled!
